Candlewood Center is a neighborhood retail center immediately north of Cico Park in Manhattan, KS. Built in the late 1970s, the center’s signage was a mixture of back lighted can signage and manual lettered message boards, most dating from the original construction.

The center’s ownership group approached S&N Design to design and manage the rebranding project. The overall project involved not only designing and managing the installation of major new center signage, but also working with all of the tenants to replace their out-of-date backlit signage with consistent, pin-mounted lettering. To accomplish the task, a branding plan was created using a limited typeface collection and a subdued color palette that could stand alone or work with each tenant’s corporate signage options.

The new logo and identification was created and implemented on both monument signs and directory signage. The monument signage required us to work with the city of Manhattan staff to ensure that the new signs going up would require signage regulations.

Along with the signage project, the identification was used in a new S&N Design-created website and marketing materials for the shopping center.
